Carpenter Bee Control Ottawa
Round holes in your deck, fascia, or eaves? That is typical carpenter bee activity.
What you need to know
Carpenter bees bore round entrance holes into bare, weathered wood such as decks, railings, fascia, soffits, and eaves, leaving small piles of sawdust below. They tunnel to nest rather than eat the wood, and tunnels can be reused year after year. The large bees hovering near the damage are often males, which cannot sting; females can sting but rarely do unless handled. PestPass treats carpenter bees only, not honeybees or bumblebees.
Covered under the PestPass Plan ($159/visit, quarterly, $636/year) and the One-Time Treatment ($249/visit, 30-day guarantee). See plans & pricing β
Warning signs
- βRound holes, roughly the width of a finger, in decks, railings, fascia, or eaves
- βSawdust or coarse wood shavings piled below the holes
- βLarge bees hovering around wood surfaces in spring and summer
- βDark staining or streaks below entrance holes
What to expect
Check decks, railings, eaves, fascia, and outdoor wood for entrance holes and activity.
Treat active entrance holes so bees using the tunnels are reached.
Once the holes are no longer in use, they can be filled so they are not reused.
Painted or sealed wood is less attractive than bare, weathered wood. We point out the spots most at risk.
